Hormone Therapy

Hormone Therapy in Ridgeland, Mississippi

Hormone therapy at Enhanced Wellness Living starts with a full hormone evaluation, not a prescription. Since 2004, our board-certified nurse practitioners in Ridgeland, Mississippi have helped women and men with perimenopause, menopause, low testosterone, thyroid dysfunction and adrenal stress find out what is actually off, and correct it.

Bioidentical hormones, testosterone and thyroid treatment are prescribed only after the labs say so, and monitored so the dose stays right as your body changes. If your symptoms have been dismissed, or your labs came back normal and you still feel wrong, this is where to start.

What's Included

What hormone therapy at Enhanced Wellness Living includes

Hormone therapy is one part of functional medicine care here, not a stand-alone product. Depending on what your evaluation shows, a plan may include bioidentical hormone replacement therapy for women in perimenopause and menopause, testosterone evaluation and treatment for men, thyroid treatment based on a complete panel, cortisol and adrenal support, and the nutrition, sleep and movement work that decides how well any hormone performs.

Serving Ridgeland, Jackson & Madison since 2004.

Who hormone therapy is for

Women. Hot flashes and night sweats, sleep that falls apart in your forties, mood changes, weight that moves to the middle, brain fog, low libido, vaginal dryness, irregular or heavy periods, and fatigue that does not match how much you rest. These are the most common reasons women in the Jackson metro come to us for hormone evaluation.

Men. Low drive, low motivation, erectile changes, loss of muscle despite training, a belly that will not shift, poor sleep and irritability. Many men are told their testosterone is normal when it sits at the bottom of a very wide range. We look at free and total testosterone, estradiol, SHBG and the markers around them before deciding anything.

Thyroid symptoms. Cold hands and feet, hair thinning, constipation, dry skin, weight gain, a slow heart rate and a tired feeling that sleep does not fix. A standard screening often checks TSH only. We test the full panel.

The Evaluation

How we evaluate your hormones

1

Sex hormones

Estradiol, progesterone, total and free testosterone, DHEA-S and SHBG. The pattern between them matters more than any single value, which is why we never prescribe from one number.

2

Full thyroid panel

TSH, free T3, free T4, reverse T3 and thyroid antibodies. A screening checks TSH alone and misses conversion problems and Hashimoto’s. We test the whole picture.

3

Cortisol pattern

Cortisol should be high in the morning and low at night. When stress flattens or inverts that curve, every other hormone struggles. Where stress is part of your story, we map it across the day.

4

Blood sugar and insulin

Fasting insulin, glucose and HbA1c. Insulin resistance drives weight gain, PCOS, low testosterone and poor sleep, and it is invisible on a glucose test alone.

5

The nutrients hormones depend on

Iron and ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and the minerals the thyroid needs to convert hormone. Deficiency is common, easy to test, and often the fastest thing to correct.

6

Inflammation and lipids

An inflammation marker and a lipid panel, so cardiovascular risk is understood before any hormone is prescribed, not after.

7

Results, line by line

Every marker is reviewed with you. You will know what each result means, why it matters, and exactly how it shapes your plan.

Treatments

Bioidentical hormones, testosterone and thyroid

Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy. Bioidentical hormones are chemically identical to the hormones your body produces. They are prescribed after lab testing, at the lowest effective dose, and monitored with follow-up labs so the dose stays right as your body changes. Most women notice improvement in sleep, hot flashes and mood within the first weeks, with energy, focus and body composition following over the first few months.

Testosterone therapy for men. Low testosterone is common after 40 and under-diagnosed because of how wide the normal range is. We treat the man, not the number: testosterone is addressed alongside sleep, body composition, blood sugar and cardiovascular markers. For men whose main concern is erectile function, hormone care works alongside GAINSWave therapy, which treats the blood-flow side of erectile dysfunction without pills.

Thyroid treatment. Thyroid problems hide behind normal TSH results every day. We test free T3, free T4, reverse T3 and antibodies, look at the nutrients the thyroid needs, and treat the pattern we find. When Hashimoto’s is present, the plan addresses the immune and gut side as well. If you have wondered why you are so tired or why your hair is falling out, the thyroid is often part of the answer.

Perimenopause and menopause. Perimenopause can start in the late thirties and run for a decade. Symptoms are real, they are hormonal, and they are treatable. Bioidentical hormones where appropriate, combined with the food, sleep and stress work that decides how well those hormones perform. Women who have been told to wait it out are the patients we see most.

Why EWL

Why choose a functional medicine clinic for hormone therapy

Hormone symptoms rarely have one cause. Treating the hormone and ignoring the reasons it drifted is why so many people feel better for a while and then slide back.

Root cause first

Blood sugar, gut health, nutrient gaps and chronic stress all push hormones off course. We treat those too, or the hormones never settle.

Since 2004

Mississippi’s longest-standing functional medicine clinic, founded by Kelly Engelmann, FNP-BC, with a second master’s degree in metabolic and nutritional medicine and A4M fellowship training.

A team, not a provider

Kelly Engelmann, FNP-BC, Amanda Carter, FNP-C and health coach Taylor Foster review every case together. Every program includes visits with all three.

Monitoring built in

Follow-up labs and visits are part of the program, so doses are adjusted as your body responds. Nothing is set and forgotten.

WHAT TO EXPECT

What happens after you call

1. Complimentary 15-minute call. We listen to what you have been noticing and confirm we are the right fit.

2. Initial consultation in Ridgeland. A full history and the lab order built for your situation.

3. Results review. Every marker explained, and a written plan that covers hormones, nutrition, sleep, stress and movement.

4. Treatment and follow-up. Bioidentical hormones, thyroid or testosterone treatment where indicated, coaching visits, and repeat labs to confirm the plan is working.

When hormones are not the right call

Some patients are better served without hormone therapy, and some symptoms need a physician first. Your history, cardiovascular markers and risk factors are reviewed before anything is prescribed. Enhanced Wellness Living works alongside conventional medicine, and we will refer you when that is the right call.

Questions

Straight answers.

The honest version, not the marketing version.

Do you prescribe bioidentical hormones?

Yes. Bioidentical estrogen, progesterone and testosterone are prescribed after a full hormone evaluation and monitored with follow-up testing.

Do I need a referral?

No. Start with a complimentary 15-minute call. New patients are being accepted.

Is hormone therapy safe?

For most people it is, when it is prescribed after proper testing, at the right dose, and monitored. Your history, cardiovascular markers and risk factors are reviewed before anything is prescribed, and some patients are better served without hormones. We will tell you if that is you.

How soon will I feel different?

Sleep, hot flashes and mood often improve within weeks. Energy, body composition and focus usually take two to three months. Thyroid changes are gradual and are re-checked with labs.

Do you treat men?

Yes. Men make up a large part of the practice, for testosterone, thyroid, metabolic health and sexual wellness.

Do you accept insurance?

No. Enhanced Wellness Living is a cash pay practice and does not file insurance claims for any service. Your full price depends on how complex your case is and how much testing you need, and you will know it before you commit to anything.
